Number 17 Tracing Worksheet (Seventeen)
Seventeen is ten and seven. It is one of the longer number words to read, so this page gives extra practice: trace the dashed 17, trace the word seventeen and count seventeen flowers in a row of ten and a row of seven.
What’s on the number 17 worksheet
A dashed 17 with arrows, the word seventeen, ten frames showing 10 + 7, four tracing rows and 17 flowers to count and colour.
Prints on A4 or US Letter (choose “Fit to page”).
How to write 17
Write the 1 first. The 7 starts at the top left with a flat line across to the right, then a long straight slant back down towards the bottom left. Some families add a small line through the middle of the 7, which is fine too.
Ten and seven
Ask your child to cover the right-hand ten frame with a hand. Ten is left. Uncover it: seven more. Covering and uncovering makes the “ten and some more” idea visible at a glance, without counting every counter.
What to watch for
Seventeen is a long word with three syllables. If reading it is tricky, clap each part: sev-en-teen. The number itself is usually easier than the word, which is completely normal.
Counting idea for seventeen
Plant a pretend garden with seventeen paper flowers or crayon stalks. Put ten in the first bed and seven in the second. Water each one with a finger as you count, then count the whole garden together.
Game: Seventeen stepping stones
Lay seventeen sheets of paper or cushions across the floor as stepping stones. Your child hops along, calling out each number. Put a big star on stone ten, so they can pause, cheer and keep going to seventeen.
Where you see 17
Seventeen on a house door, the 17th of the month and the minutes on a digital clock, such as 9:17.

Number 17 questions
Why does the 7 sometimes have a line through it?
In many countries people cross the 7 so it does not look like a 1. Your child can use either style; just be consistent so it stays easy to read.
My child skips from 16 to 18. What helps?
Counting objects slowly and touching each one usually fixes skipped numbers. Number lines and the stepping-stone game above help too.
