Number 16 Tracing Worksheet (Sixteen)
Sixteen is ten and six, and it is a good number for spotting doubles too, because eight and eight also make sixteen. This page brings a dashed 16, the word sixteen and sixteen ladybugs to count, colour and dot with spots.
What’s on the number 16 worksheet
A dashed 16 with arrows, the word sixteen, ten frames showing 10 + 6, four tracing rows and 16 ladybugs to count and colour.
Prints on A4 or US Letter (choose “Fit to page”).
How to write 16
Make the 1. For the 6, start at the top and swoop down in a big curve like a slide, then curl round at the bottom into a small closed loop. Finish where the loop meets the slide, without a gap.
Ten and six
Show sixteen as ten counters in one frame and six in the next. Then ask: how many more to make twenty? Your child can count the empty squares, four, which is a first taste of number bonds to 20.
What to watch for
A 6 that does not close at the bottom can look like a C or a backwards G. Encourage your child to slow down at the end of the curl and join it up neatly.
Counting idea for sixteen
Collect sixteen leaves, buttons or shells and sort them by colour or size. Count each group, then count all of them together. Sorting first and counting second makes a big number feel manageable.
Game: Ladybug spot count
Draw a large ladybug on paper. Your child adds spots with a crayon or stickers while you count together, stopping at sixteen. Then count the spots on each wing separately, which might be ten and six or eight and eight. All of them make sixteen.
Where you see 16
Sixteen on a birthday card, a chessboard (each player starts with sixteen pieces) and page sixteen in a book.

Number 16 questions
What are number bonds to 20?
They are pairs of numbers that add up to 20, such as 16 and 4. Two ten frames make them easy to see, because the empty squares show the missing number.
How many chess pieces does each player have?
Each player starts with sixteen pieces: eight pawns and eight other pieces. It is a neat real-world sixteen to point out if you have a chess set at home.
