Number 19 Tracing Worksheet (Nineteen)
Nineteen is ten and nine: the very last teen number, one step before twenty. This page has a dashed 19 to trace, the word nineteen and nineteen sunny faces to count and colour.
What’s on the number 19 worksheet
A dashed 19 with arrows, the word nineteen, ten frames showing 10 + 9, four tracing rows and 19 suns to count and colour.
Prints on A4 or US Letter (choose “Fit to page”).
How to write 19
Write the 1. For the 9, start at the top right of the small loop and go round anticlockwise to make the head, then pull a straight line down from the right side to the bottom. A 9 is a balloon on a string.
Ten and nine
With nineteen, the right ten frame has only one empty square. Ask: what happens if we add one more counter? The frame fills up, and we have two tens, twenty. It is a lovely way to see why the numbers go 19, then 20.
What to watch for
The 9 is easy to reverse into a P or turn upside down into a 6. If that happens, draw a balloon with a string next to it and trace the 9 over the balloon shape together.
Counting idea for nineteen
Fill a jar with nineteen buttons and ask your child to guess how many before counting. Then count them into groups of ten. Guessing first and checking after builds a sense of how big numbers look.
Game: Nineteen, almost there!
Play a counting race to twenty. Take turns adding one or two blocks to a tower and saying the new total. Whoever lands on nineteen shouts “almost there!”, and whoever puts on the twentieth block wins the round.
Where you see 19
Nineteen on a sports shirt, a house number or the 19th page of a story, and the count right before twenty in hide-and-seek.

Number 19 questions
What comes after nineteen?
Twenty. After nineteen there are no more teen numbers; the next number is two full tens, written as 20.
How can I tell if my child really understands teen numbers?
Ask them to show a number like 17 with counters or fingers and explain where the ten is. If they can show one ten and seven ones, they understand the idea, not just the name.
