Sight Word “did” Worksheet – Trace, Write and Find
“Did” is a short question word with a big job: “Did you brush your teeth?” It also tells us what already happened: “I did it!”
What’s on the “did” worksheet
Read and trace “did”, write it alone, circle it among bid, lid, dad, kid and dig, then trace “I did it!”
Prints on A4 or US Letter (choose “Fit to page”).
How to teach “did”
Did is regular and the same letter starts and ends it, which children enjoy. Draw a big d at each end with a short i in the middle. Ask lots of did questions during the day, and celebrate with a loud “I did it!” when a job is done.

- Did you see the frog?
- I did it all by myself!
- Did the cat eat?
- We did a puzzle.
Game: Did you…? dice
Write six questions on a sheet, such as “Did you jump?” or “Did you hop?” Roll a die, read the matching question and do the action. Then answer in a full sentence: “Yes, I did!”
Practise next
Try “do” and “get” next: they are action words that often appear with did in questions.
Questions about “did”
My child writes did with a b. Is that normal?
Very normal. Both d letters face the same way, so practise starting each one with a round c shape and then the tall line.
Is did a phonics word?
It can be blended, d-i-d, but it is on the Dolch list because it appears so often in books.
