Lowercase Letter z Tracing Worksheet
Lowercase z is a zig-zag letter with three straight lines. It is one of the rarest letters in English, but children love it because of zoos and zebras.
What’s on the lowercase z worksheet
Big dotted z letters, two tracing rows, the words zebra, zip, zucchini and zoo, and a row to circle z among s, x, v.
How to write lowercase z
Start at the dashed line on the left and draw a straight line to the right. Slant down to the baseline on the left, then draw a straight line back to the right along the baseline.
Where z sits on the lines
The z sits in the middle space.
What to watch for
Backwards z is common at first. Saying “across, slide back, across” keeps it the right way.
Words to trace
🦓 zebra · 🤐 zip · 🥒 zucchini · 🦁 zoo
Activity: Zig-zag road
Draw a zig-zag road and drive a toy car along it. Your child traces each z as part of the road, saying “zoom, zip, zoom”.
Try this at home
Zoom a toy car along a z-shaped path taped to the floor: across, back diagonally, across again. Saying “zig, zag, zoom” keeps the order of the three lines clear.
