Questions about “you”

Why is you spelled with ou?

In you, o and u together make the “oo” sound. It is a rule-breaker word, so practising it by sight works best.

My child writes yu. Should I correct it?

Praise them for hearing the sounds, then show the real spelling. Reminding them that you has an o hiding in the middle helps.
