Cursive Letter v Tracing Worksheet
Cursive v starts with an overcurve, dips to a point and ends with a little bridge at the top. It joins differently because it ends high.
What’s on the cursive v worksheet
Cursive V and v to copy, dotted v rows to trace and join, the words van, vase and vest, and a line for your child’s own v.
How to write cursive v
Start with an overcurve up to the dashed line. Slant down to the baseline, then swing back up to the dashed line and finish with a short bridge stroke.
What to watch for
Watch the bridge at the end; without it, v joins too low and the next letter looks odd.
Joining v to other letters
Because v ends high, the next letter starts at the dashed line, as in vet and van. The bridge is short and nearly flat. Practise va, ve and vo, then write van and vet. Say “over, down, up, bridge”.
Words to trace in cursive

Activity: Valley v
Draw a valley with a river at the bottom. Your child traces v down the valley and back up, adding the bridge as a little cloud.

Overcurve letters: m · n · x · y
Print shape first: lowercase v tracing
Cursive v questions
Is cursive v pointed or round at the bottom?
In this style it has a soft point. A very round bottom can make it look like cursive u, so keep the turn tight.
Which words are good for practising cursive v?
Van, vet, have and give are short words where v sits in different places, so your child practises joining into and out of it.
