Cursive Letter w Tracing Worksheet
Cursive w is like two u’s with a bridge at the end. It has a lovely rhythm once your child gets the hang of it.
What’s on the cursive w worksheet
Cursive W and w to copy, dotted w rows to trace and join, the words whale, web and wolf, and a line for your child’s own w.
How to write cursive w
Start with an undercurve up to the dashed line. Pull down, undercurve up, pull down again, undercurve up to the dashed line and finish with a short bridge.
What to watch for
The last upstroke of w often stops early. Make sure it reaches the dashed line before the bridge.
Joining w to other letters
The bridge at the top of w means the next letter starts high, as in we and win, just like after o and v. Practise wa, we and wi, then write web and wig. Say “down, up, down, up, bridge”.

Cursive w questions
Why is cursive w tricky?
It has three upstrokes and a bridge, so there is a lot to remember. Saying the steps aloud while tracing helps children keep the order.

The bridge ending takes practice. Try we and wo first.
