Cursive Letter x Tracing Worksheet
Cursive x looks like two curves back to back, a little like a pair of brackets )( pushed together. It is a rare letter, but it is fun to write.
What’s on the cursive x worksheet
Cursive X and x to copy, dotted x rows to trace and join, the words fox, box and taxi, and a line for your child’s own x.
How to write cursive x
Start with an overcurve up to the dashed line, then curve down to the baseline like a backwards c and finish with an undercurve. After the word is written, add the second half: a small c-shaped curve that touches the first one in the middle.
What to watch for
Watch that the second half crosses the first in the middle, not at the top or bottom.
Joining x to other letters
Write the first half of x and keep going into the next letter, then go back and add the second curve. Taxi is a good word to try. Practise ax, ox and ix, then write fox and box. Add the second half after the word.
Words to trace in cursive

Cursive x questions
Why is the second half of x added later?
Like dots and crosses, it is added at the end so the word keeps flowing.
Why are the words for x mostly with x at the end?
Very few English words start with x, so practising it at the end of words is more useful.
