What’s on the cursive o worksheet

Cursive O and o to copy, dotted o rows to trace and join, the words owl, orange and ox, and a line for your child’s own o.

How to write cursive o

Start with a small overcurve up to the dashed line. Curve back down and round to close the oval, then finish with a short bridge stroke to the right at the dashed line.

What to watch for

Watch the ending: o finishes with a bridge at the dashed line, not on the baseline.

Joining o to other letters

Because o ends high, the next letter starts at the dashed line. Practise on, or and ox to get used to joining from the top. Practise on, or and ow, then write dog and box. The bridge leads straight into the next letter.

Cursive o questions

Why does cursive o end at the top?

The bridge stroke ends high, so it joins the next letter from the dashed line.

Should cursive o be a circle or an oval?

An oval works best. It leans slightly to the right like the other letters and joins more smoothly than a perfect circle.
