Lowercase Letter c Tracing Worksheet
Lowercase c is the starting shape for a whole family of letters, including a, d, g, o and q. If your child can make a good c, those letters get much easier.
What’s on the lowercase c worksheet
Big dotted c letters, two tracing rows, the words cat, cake, cup and carrot, and a row to circle c among e, o, s.
How to write lowercase c
Start just below the dashed line on the right. Curve up, back over the top, down the left side and round along the baseline, stopping before you close the circle.
Where c sits on the lines
Lowercase c sits in the middle space only. It looks just like uppercase C, only smaller.
What to watch for
Watch the direction. If your child goes clockwise, the c will open the wrong way and later letters like a and d will be harder.
Words to trace
🐱 cat · 🎂 cake · 🥤 cup · 🥕 carrot
Activity: Cookie bites
Draw round cookies on paper and have your child take a “bite” out of the right side of each one by tracing a c around it. Count the bitten cookies at the end.
Try this at home
Hand your child a curved piece of play dough and ask them to open it like a mouth facing right. Pressing it flat on the worksheet shows exactly how wide the c should open.
Same letter family
Round “c” letters: o · a · d · g
Capital C: letter C tracing · Joined-up: cursive c
Lowercase c questions
Why is c taught before a, d and g?
They all start with the same backwards curve. Practising c first builds the movement for the whole family.
Does lowercase c look like uppercase C?
Yes, the shape is the same. Lowercase c just stays inside the middle space.
