What’s on the lowercase i worksheet

Big dotted i letters, two tracing rows, the words ice, insect, ink and ice cream, and a row to circle i among l, j, t.

How to write lowercase i

Start at the dashed line and pull a short stick straight down to the baseline. Lift the pencil and add a dot just above the stick, in the top space.

Where i sits on the lines

The stick sits in the middle space. The dot floats above it, halfway into the top space.

What to watch for

Some children draw a circle instead of a dot, or put the dot far away. Keep it small and close.

Words to trace

🧊 ice · 🐛 insect · 🖋️ ink · 🍦 ice cream

Activity: Dot the i

Draw a row of short sticks. Your child uses a fingertip dipped in paint, or a sticker, to add the dot to each one. Count them, then trace the row with a pencil.

Try this at home

Use stickers or a fingertip of paint for the dots. Children press harder on the stick when they know a reward dot is coming, which gives you neater, straighter lines.
