Cursive Letter i Tracing Worksheet
Cursive i is a small upward stroke with a dot. It is often the very first cursive letter children learn because it is so simple.
What’s on the cursive i worksheet
Cursive I and i to copy, dotted i rows to trace and join, the words ink, ice and insect, and a line for your child’s own i.
How to write cursive i
Start on the baseline with an undercurve to the dashed line. Pull straight back down and finish with an undercurve. Add the dot at the end, after the whole word is written.
What to watch for
Children often stop and dot the i straight away. Encourage them to finish the word first.
Joining i to other letters
Nothing gets in the way of the join after i, because the dot waits until the word is finished. It links into nearly every letter. Practise in, it and ip, then the words pin and sit. Dot all the i letters at the end.

Cursive i questions
Why add the dot at the end?
Stopping to add the dot breaks the flow. In cursive, children finish the word first and then add dots and crosses.
Is cursive i a good first letter?
Yes. It is short and uses the basic undercurve stroke.
