Cursive Letter r Tracing Worksheet
Cursive r has a little shoulder at the top, like a tiny step. It looks quite different from print r.
What’s on the cursive r worksheet
Cursive R and r to copy, dotted r rows to trace and join, the words rabbit, ring and rose, and a line for your child’s own r.
How to write cursive r
Start with an undercurve up to just above the dashed line. Make a small shoulder to the right, pull straight down to the baseline and finish with an undercurve.
What to watch for
The shoulder of r is often too flat or too rounded. A small, sharp step works best.
Joining r to other letters
The step at the top of r is followed by a drop and a curve away, which is where the next letter begins, as in red and run. Practise ra, re and ro, then write red and run. Say “up, step, down”.
Words to trace in cursive
