Cursive Letter s Tracing Worksheet
Cursive s is a small pointed letter with a curve at the bottom. It is very different from print s, so it needs practice.
What’s on the cursive s worksheet
Cursive S and s to copy, dotted s rows to trace and join, the words sun, sock and seal, and a line for your child’s own s.
How to write cursive s
Start with an undercurve up to just above the dashed line. Come back down in a curve to the baseline, close it with a small loop to the left and finish with an undercurve.
What to watch for
The point at the top of s can turn into a loop. Keep it sharp so the letter is easy to read.
Joining s to other letters
Once the little closing loop is made, s rises from the baseline into the next letter. In sun the rise carries straight into the u. Practise sa, se and su, then write sun and sip. Say “up to a point, curve back”.
Words to trace in cursive

Activity: Sailboat s
Draw a small sea along the baseline. Your child traces cursive s shapes as sailboats, with the pointed top as the sail.
