What’s on the cursive t worksheet

Cursive T and t to copy, dotted t rows to trace and join, the words tent, tiger and tap, and a line for your child’s own t.

How to write cursive t

Start with an undercurve up to just below the top line. Pull straight back down to the baseline and finish with an undercurve. Add the crossbar after the whole word is written.

What to watch for

Watch the height: t is taller than the middle letters but shorter than l.

Joining t to other letters

The upstroke of t ends with a curve along the baseline. Words like top and ten are best written in one go, with the cross added last. Practise ta, te and to, then write ten and top. Cross all the t letters at the end.

Cursive t questions

Why does my child’s cursive t look like an l?

Cursive t has no loop and stops a little below the top line. If your child loops it or makes it too tall, it turns into l. Say “up and straight back down”.

Do all cursive styles cross the t the same way?

Most add a short straight crossbar after the word, though a few join the cross to the next letter. Pick one way and keep it consistent.
