Lowercase Letter p Tracing Worksheet
Lowercase p has a long stick that drops below the line and a round bump at the top. It is one of the letters that hangs into the space below the baseline.
What’s on the lowercase p worksheet
Big dotted p letters, two tracing rows, the words pig, pizza, penguin and pear, and a row to circle p among q, b, d.
How to write lowercase p
Start at the dashed line and pull a straight stick down past the baseline into the space below. Go back up the stick to the dashed line, then make a round bump to the right and close it at the baseline.
Where p sits on the lines
The bump sits in the middle space and the stick drops below the baseline.
What to watch for
p, b, d and q are all variations of a stick and a circle. Watch for the bump drifting onto the wrong side.
Words to trace
🐷 pig · 🍕 pizza · 🐧 penguin · 🍐 pear
Activity: Pizza p
Draw a pizza at the top of a stick and call it a pizza on a stick. Your child traces the stick first, then the round pizza. Add pepperoni dots to the best one.
Try this at home
Stand a straw in a ball of play dough and call it a lollipop; the round sweet sits at the top and the stick goes down. Turning it upside down is a b, which makes a good talking point.
