What’s on the cursive p worksheet

Cursive P and p to copy, dotted p rows to trace and join, the words pig, pan and pear, and a line for your child’s own p.

How to write cursive p

Start with an undercurve up to the dashed line. Pull straight down below the baseline, make a small loop at the bottom and come back up to the baseline. Then swing up into a round hump, close it at the baseline and finish with an undercurve.

What to watch for

The round part of p is sometimes drawn without coming back to the baseline, leaving a gap.

Joining p to other letters

When the round part of p closes, the pencil swings forward. In pig, that swing rises into the i without stopping. Practise pa, pi and po, then write pan and pig. The round part should close at the baseline.
