Shapes Worksheets for Kids (Free Printable PDF)

A free shapes worksheet PDF that starts with a learn-first chart of 15 everyday objects and their shapes (photo, name, shape and a fun fact), then lets children match objects to shapes, circle the right picture and trace shape names.

Learn-first shapes chart: photos of a clock, a coin, a pizza, a chessboard, dice, a sticky note, a samosa and more with their shape names

Learn first, then practise

Pages 1–2 of the PDF is a learn-first chart: every object in the set with a clear photo and its name. Look at it together before the activity pages. Say each name aloud, point to favourites and read the fun facts, so your child knows all the shapes and objects before being asked to match, circle or trace them.

What’s in the shape worksheets

  1. Learn first: a picture-and-name chart of all 15 shapes and objects, each with a photo, the name in big letters and one fun fact (pages 1–2).
  2. Match the object to its shape: draw a line from five photos to five shape names.
  3. Circle the right picture: read a name, then circle it in a row of three photos.
  4. Trace the shape names: circle, square, triangle, rectangle, oval and heart, with space to write.

Play the shape quiz first

Children remember names better after they have played with them. Try the shape quiz for kids (it works on a phone), then print these pages for quiet practice.

Make it a shape hunt

After the worksheets, walk round the house with the chart and find one more thing for each shape: a plate or a roti for a circle, a book for a rectangle, a window for a square, a slice of watermelon for a triangle.

Printing tips

The learn-first chart looks best in colour. The activity pages print well in colour or greyscale. Choose A4 or US Letter and “Fit to page”.
