Lowercase Letter f Tracing Worksheet
Lowercase f is a tall letter with a hook at the top and a short crossbar. It looks a little like a walking stick with a scarf.
What’s on the lowercase f worksheet
Big dotted f letters, two tracing rows, the words fish, frog, flower and feather, and a row to circle f among t, l, j.
How to write lowercase f
Start just below the top line on the right. Curve up and over to the left like a hook, then pull a straight line down to the baseline. Lift the pencil and draw a short crossbar along the dashed line.
Where f sits on the lines
The hook starts near the top line and the stick ends on the baseline. The crossbar sits on the dashed line.
What to watch for
Watch for the hook turning the wrong way, which makes a backwards f. The hook always bends to the left.
Words to trace
🐟 fish · 🐸 frog · 🌸 flower · 🪶 feather
Activity: Candy cane f
Turn a candy cane or a pipe cleaner upside down so the hook bends left. Your child traces round it, then adds a crossbar. Ask them to make three, each one a bit smaller.
Try this at home
Look for f on shop signs and food labels during a walk: café, fruit, fish. Ask your child whether the hook points to the left each time; most printed f letters do.
