Cursive K and k to copy, dotted k rows to trace and join, the words kite, key and king, and a line for your child’s own k.

How to write cursive k

Start with an undercurve up to the top line. Loop back and pull straight down to the baseline. Go back up into a small loop at the dashed line, then kick out to the baseline and finish with an undercurve.

What to watch for

The small middle loop is easily forgotten, which turns k into h. Slow down at the dashed line.

Joining k to other letters

After the little kick, k finishes on the baseline and curves into what comes next. In kit, the kick slides straight into the i. Practise ki, ke and ka, then write kit and kid. Say “tall loop, little loop, kick”.
