What’s on the cursive l worksheet

Cursive L and l to copy, dotted l rows to trace and join, the words leaf, lion and lamp, and a line for your child’s own l.

How to write cursive l

Start on the baseline with an undercurve that swings up to the top line. Loop back to the left and pull straight down to the baseline, finishing with an undercurve.

What to watch for

Some loops end up as straight lines. A thin but open loop makes l easy to read.

Joining l to other letters

The tall loop ends low, so l joins easily. A row like lll is a good warm-up before writing words such as leg and lip. Practise la, le and li, then write leg and lip. Then try a whole row of joined l letters.
