Teaching tips for “sleep”

Sleep starts with the sl blend and has the ee spelling of see and tree. Blend it: s-l-ee-p. Make it part of bedtime: who is going to sleep? Read the word on a door sign that says “Shh, I sleep here.” Talk about where animals sleep.

Try this game: Sleeping lions

Everyone lies still as sleeping lions. You hold up word cards: if it says sleep, everyone stays still; if it says wake, everyone roars and sits up.
