Sight Word Worksheet Maker: Read, Trace, Write, Find
Choose any 1 to 4 Dolch sight words and get a one-page worksheet: read the word, trace it twice on handwriting lines, write it, then circle it in a row of look-alike words. The answer key is on page 2. Free, no sign-up, nothing uploaded.
Made on your device: nothing is uploaded, no sign-up, and it keeps working offline once the page has loaded. Every puzzle is new; tap New puzzle for another.
How to use it
- Choose a Dolch list: pre-primer, primer, grade 1 or grade 2. These are the same 179 words as our sight word worksheet pages.
- Tap up to 4 words, or tap Pick 4 for me. A good choice is the words your child is learning this week, or ones they keep mixing up.
- Check the preview: each word gets its own row with Read, Trace, Write and “Circle every …”. Tap Answer key to see the circled answers.
- Choose A4 or US Letter and tap Download free PDF.
Why it helps
Sight words such as the, and, said and was make up a large share of the words in early reading books, and many cannot be sounded out. Seeing, saying, tracing and writing the same word in one short session helps it stick.
The tracing letters are dotted centre-lines in the same Andika letter shapes as our tracing worksheets, with a single-storey a, so your child traces one smooth path instead of an outline. The “circle every” row mixes in words that start the same way or are the same length, so children must really read the word, not guess from its shape.
You choose the exact words. Most free sheets give you one fixed word per page; this makes a sheet for the four words your child needs now.
Parent tip
Say the word, then spell it out loud together while tracing: “s-a-i-d, said.” Afterwards, hunt for the word in a favourite picture book.
Little and often works best. One sheet with 4 words a day, then a quick revision of last week’s words, is more effective than a long session once a week.
Which list for which age

| 7–8 years | Grade 2 (always, because, does, would, write…). |

Questions
Is it free?
Yes. Make as many sheets as you like for home or the classroom. No sign-up and no ads in the tool.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The worksheet is made in your browser on your own phone or computer, and the PDF is created there too. Nothing is sent to us, there is no sign-up, and it keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
How do I print it?
Tap Download free PDF and print the file, or tap Print. Choose A4 or US Letter first: the PDF is made at that exact size, so set the printer to 100% or “Actual size” rather than “Fit to page”. The answer key prints as page 2; untick “Add answer key page” if you only want the worksheet.
Which sight word list is this?
The Dolch list from pre-primer to grade 2: 179 words, the same ones as on our sight word worksheet pages. The Dolch nouns and grade 3 words are not included.
Can I add my own words?
Not on this sheet, because the letter shapes, tracing and look-alike words are made for the Dolch list. For your own spelling words, use My own words in the word search maker.
Can I print the same puzzle again?
Yes. Each sheet has a number like #4821 in the top line. The tool remembers your last settings and puzzle on this device, so you can come back and print it again; tap New puzzle when you want a different one.
