Sight Word “just” Worksheet – Printable Reading Practice
“Just” means only, or a moment ago: just one more, it just started. It is a small word that changes the feel of a sentence.
Four steps on one page
Trace the big “just”, write it on the line, circle it but skip must, jest, jump, dust and gust, then trace and read “Just one more story!”.
Print one per child, or slip it in a plastic sleeve and reuse it with a dry-wipe pen.
A simple way to teach “just”
Just is regular: j-u-s-t, with the st blend at the end. Blend it slowly, then quickly. Then use it in the everyday way children hear it: just one cookie, just a little bit, I just finished. Your child can make a “just right” sign for the Goldilocks story.
Quick game – Just right
Read or tell the story of Goldilocks. Every time the porridge, chair or bed is “just right”, your child holds up the just card and shouts the words with you.
Read these together
- Just one more story!
- I just saw a frog.
- It is just right.
- Wait just a minute.
“just”: number 20 of 41, Dolch first grade list, typical ages 6–7. Review the primer words first if it feels hard.
Keep going
Next up: “stop” and “fast” – they also end with the st blend.
