A free bird worksheet PDF that starts with a learn-first chart of 15 birds (photo, name and a fun fact), then lets children match birds to their names, circle the right bird and trace bird names.

Learn first, then practise

Pages 1–2 of the PDF is a learn-first chart: every bird in the set with a clear photo and its name. Look at it together before the activity pages. Say each name aloud, point to favourites and read the fun facts, so your child knows all the birds before being asked to match, circle or trace them.

What’s in the bird worksheets

  1. Learn first: a picture-and-name chart of all 15 birds, each with a photo, the name in big letters and one fun fact (pages 1–2).
  2. Match the bird to its name: draw a line from five photos to five names.
  3. Circle the right bird: read a name, then circle it in a row of three photos.
  4. Trace the bird names: owl, hen, duck, crow, myna and eagle, with space to write.

Play the bird quiz first

Children remember names better after they have played with them. Try the bird quiz for kids (it works on a phone), then print these pages for quiet practice.

Make it a bird walk

After the worksheets, take the chart outside. Tick off every bird you see in the garden, the park or from the window: crows, pigeons, sparrows and mynas are easy to find in most towns.

Printing tips

The learn-first chart looks best in colour. The activity pages print well in colour or greyscale. Choose A4 or US Letter and “Fit to page”.
