Number 12 Tracing Worksheet (Twelve)
Twelve is ten and two more, and it shows up everywhere: a dozen eggs, twelve months, twelve hours on a clock face. This worksheet has a dashed 12 to trace, two ten frames and twelve hearts to count and colour.

How to write 12
Start with the 1: a short slant up and a long line down. For the 2, begin a little below the top, curve up and over like a hook, slide down to the bottom left on a slant and finish with a flat line along the bottom.
Ten and two
The 1 tells you there is one full ten; the 2 tells you there are two extra. A tray of twelve eggs often comes in two rows of six, but for place value it helps to show ten in one frame and two in the next.
What to watch for
The 2 is often the trickiest digit here. Watch for a backwards hook or a 2 that has no flat base. Saying “around, down, along” while tracing helps keep the shape.
Counting idea for twelve
Count out twelve grapes or crackers and put them in pairs. Children can count in ones, then try counting in twos: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12. Both ways land on the same number, which is a lovely discovery.
Game: Egg box hunt
Hide twelve small objects, such as plastic eggs or pom-poms, around one room. Your child fills an egg box as they find them, counting each one in. When all twelve cups are full, the hunt is over. Swap roles and let them hide them for you.

What is a dozen?
A dozen is another name for twelve. People have counted things like eggs and bread rolls in dozens for hundreds of years, because twelve splits neatly into halves, thirds and quarters.
Should my child learn 11 and 12 before the teen numbers?
It helps. Eleven and twelve have unusual names, so practising them first means the regular pattern from thirteen to nineteen feels easier afterwards.
