Colour White Worksheet
White is the lightest colour: the colour of snow, clouds and fresh milk. Because paper is usually white, this worksheet turns things around: your child leaves the dotted squares white and colours the rest to find a hidden snowman.
What’s on the white worksheet
Trace white, circle the white things among eight pictures, leave the dotted squares white to find a hidden snowman and trace “Snow is white.”
Things that are white
- Snow, clouds and ice
- Milk, rice, eggs (many are white) and coconut
- Swans, sheep, polar bears and seagulls
- Teeth and the white of an eye
- Paper, chalk and many tissues
Mixing white
White cannot be mixed from other paints, but it is the colour you add to make others lighter. A little white in red makes pink; in blue, sky blue; in black, grey.
Shades of white
Whites include snow white, cream, ivory and off-white. Put a sheet of paper next to a white plate and a white T-shirt: they are often slightly different whites.
Activity: Spot the white
Lay out a white towel and gather white things on it: a sock, a cup, a feather, a sugar cube. Then look again: which ones are bright white and which ones are creamy? Talk about why white things are hard to see on white.
Talking about white
On a snowy or cloudy day, say: “The clouds are white and fluffy”, “Look, your breath is white in the cold!” Linking white to weather and food helps it feel like a real colour, not just “no colour”.
Read the word white
White is also a Dolch sight word. When your child knows the colour, practise reading the word with the sight word “white” worksheet.

White questions
Is white a colour?
In everyday life, yes. In science, white light is all the colours of the rainbow mixed together, which is why a prism can split it into a rainbow.
How do children colour white on white paper?
They do not need to. This worksheet asks them to colour around the white parts, so the white picture appears in the middle, which is a nice brain teaser.
