What’s on the “here” worksheet

Read and trace “here”, write it alone, circle it among her, where, there, hero and hare, then trace “Here is my cat.”

Prints on A4 or US Letter (choose “Fit to page”).

How to teach “here”

Here has the word her inside it plus an e at the end, but it sounds like “heer”. Point to the floor near you each time you read it. Contrast it with where by pointing far away and asking a question.

Sentences with “here”

  • Come here, please.
  • Here is my red ball.
  • I live here.
  • Here is a little bird.

Game: Here or there

Put a word card on the table near you and another across the room. Call out “here!” or “there!” and your child runs to the right card. Once there, they read it aloud before you call the next word.

Practise next

Try “where” and “come” next: they are natural partners for here.

Questions about “here”

How do I stop my child mixing up here and where?

Show that where starts with wh and is always asking a question. Here is a statement about this spot. Practise them as a pair with pointing.

Should I teach hear at the same time?

Not yet. Hear and here sound the same, which can be confusing. Introduce hear later and remind your child that hear has an ear inside it.
