Sight Word “on” Worksheet – Trace, Write and Find
“On” tells us where something is: on the table, on my head, on the bus. It is short, common and easy to act out.
What’s on the “on” worksheet
Read and trace “on”, write it alone, circle it among no, in, an, one and own, then trace “A bird is on the roof.”
Prints on A4 or US Letter (choose “Fit to page”).
How to teach “on”
Blend o-n slowly. Then put a toy on different things around the room and describe each spot: “on the chair”, “on the bed”. Compare it with no, which uses the same letters back to front.
Sentences with “on”
- The cat is on the mat.
- Put your hat on.
- We sat on the bus.
- A bird is on the roof.
Game: On or under?
Hide a toy on, under or in front of things around the room. Your child finds it and reads a card that says “It is on the ___” or “It is under the ___”, then fills the gap aloud.
Practise next
Try “under” and “into” next: they are other position words you can act out together.
