Sight Word “say” Worksheet – Trace, Write and Find
“Say” tells us someone is speaking: “say hello”, “what did you say?” It is a word children meet in rhymes, games and every story with talking characters.
What’s on the “say” worksheet
Read and trace “say”, write it alone, circle it among saw, day, sat, stay and way, then trace “Say cheese!”
Prints on A4 or US Letter (choose “Fit to page”).
How to teach “say”
The ay at the end makes the long a sound, as in day and play. Play is on the pre-primer list, so build a small family on cards: day, play, say, way. Then play a quick repeat-after-me game where each turn starts with “Say…”.
Sentences with “say”
- Say hello to Grandpa.
- What did you say?
- I say please.

Game: Say it like…
Write a word on a card, such as hello. Your child picks a second card that says how to say it: “Say it like a mouse”, “Say it like a robot”. They read both cards and perform it.
