Questions about “three”

Why does three have ee at the end?

The two e’s make the long “ee” sound, just like in see and tree.

My child says “free” instead of three. Should I worry?

No. Saying th is hard for many young children. Model it gently with your tongue between your teeth, and focus on reading the word.
