Why coloring is good for young children
- It builds the small hand muscles and grip children need for writing.
- Staying inside the lines practises hand–eye coordination and focus.
- Choosing colors and talking about the picture grows vocabulary.
- It is a calm, screen-free activity for home, travel or a quiet corner in class.
Tips for happy coloring
- Ages 2–3: chunky crayons and one picture at a time. Scribbles count!
- Ages 4–5: try staying inside the lines and naming the colors used.
- Ages 6–8: add patterns, shading and a background.
- Print on slightly thicker paper if you use markers or paint.
