Sight Word “yes” Worksheet – Trace, Write and Find
“Yes” is the happiest answer in the world: “yes, please!”, “yes, you can!” Children love reading it, especially when it is the answer to a question about treats.
What’s on the “yes” worksheet
Read and trace “yes”, write it alone, circle it among yet, eye, yell, yak and say, then trace “Mum said yes!”
Prints on A4 or US Letter (choose “Fit to page”).
How to teach “yes”
Yes is decodable: y-e-s. The y at the start makes the same sound as in yellow, which is on the pre-primer list. Make yes and no cards and use them during the day for real choices: “Do you want an apple?”

- Did you say yes?
- Mum said yes!
Game: Thumbs-up treasure hunt
Hide five small treasures. Your child asks you questions to find them: “Is it under the sofa?” You hold up a yes card or shake your head. Every time the answer is yes, they read the card aloud before they look.
Practise next
Try “no” and “please” next: no is its opposite, and please goes well with yes.
