How to use these Hindi tracing worksheets
- Start with the स्वर in order (अ, आ, इ …), then move on to the व्यंजन one वर्ग at a time: क ख ग घ ङ, then च छ ज झ ञ, and so on.
- Say the picture word together first, for example “अ से अनार”, so the letter is linked to a sound.
- Trace the body of the letter first and draw the शिरोरेखा (top line) last, from left to right. The saffron line on each row shows where it sits.
- Use a thick pencil or crayon on the big letter, then a normal pencil for the small rows.
- Finish with the find-and-circle game. The answer is printed small in the footer for grown-ups.
Letters such as ङ, ञ and ण hardly ever start a Hindi word, so their pages show a common word where the letter appears in the middle or at the end (पङ्खा, पञ्जा, हिरण). The same goes for अः (प्रातः) and क्ष (कक्षा).
Frequently Asked Questions
What age are these Hindi tracing worksheets for?
They suit children aged about 3 to 6 who are starting to read and write Hindi, at home or in nursery, LKG and UKG.
Are they free?
Yes. Every sheet and both combined PDFs are free for home and classroom use.
Which font do the letters use?
A clear, simple print style (Noto Sans Devanagari) close to what children see in school books, with the matras and joined letters drawn correctly.
Why are there no numbered stroke-order arrows?
Schools and books teach slightly different stroke orders for Devanagari, so the sheets keep one simple rule that almost all of them share: write the letter shape first and add the शिरोरेखा last.
Is there an English version?
Yes: the English alphabet A–Z tracing worksheets use the same layout.
