    Hindi Letter क्ष (ksha) Tracing Worksheet, कक्षा में क्ष

A free printable worksheet for the Hindi joined letter (संयुक्त व्यंजन) क्ष, pronounced “ksha”. Say “कक्षा में क्ष” (kaksha, classroom), trace one big क्ष, then smaller and smaller rows, the word कक्षा, and finish with a find-and-circle game.

    What’s on the क्ष worksheet

One A4 page: “कक्षा में क्ष” with a picture to say aloud, a big dotted क्ष with a saffron शिरोरेखा (top line) guide, rows of क्ष that get smaller, a row to trace three and write the rest, the word कक्षा to trace, and a find-and-circle game with a “How many?” box. The answer (5) is printed small in the footer for grown-ups.

    How to write क्ष

Devanagari letters hang from a top line called the शिरोरेखा (shirorekha). Children usually find it easiest to write the body of क्ष first and to draw the top line last, from left to right, so the letter is “roofed” at the end.

क्ष is a joined letter: क् + ष. It is taught with the consonants because children meet it in common words, but it is easier once they can already write क and ष on their own.

The picture word कक्षा (classroom) has क्ष in the middle; it is a common word children already know.

    Tip for parents

Watch for mix-ups with क, which looks similar. The find-and-circle box on the sheet mixes the two, so your child has to look carefully (the answer is printed small in the footer).

    Letter क्ष questions

Why is क्ष not at the start of the picture word?

Hardly any everyday Hindi words begin with क्ष, so the sheet shows a common word where you can hear and see it: कक्षा.

    How do I print it?

Download the A4 PDF, or the US Letter copy if that is your paper size, and print at 100 percent. One page per letter.
