10 small me-time ideas that fit a busy day

Me-time does not need a spa day. Small, regular breaks are easier to keep. Pick two or three of these and protect them like a school pickup.

    1. The hot-chai rule. Drink one cup a day while it is still hot, sitting down. Ten minutes, phone face down.
    2. A 15-minute walk alone. Round the society, to the sabzi market, anywhere. Headphones optional.
    3. One song, full volume. Your favourite old song while you cook. Dancing in the kitchen counts.
    4. A monthly kitty or coffee date. A fixed date with friends is easier to protect than "whenever we are free".
    5. Swap an hour. Trade one hour of child-minding with your partner, a grandparent or another mom, every week.
    6. Ten pages before bed. A book, a magazine or a recipe book. Not the class WhatsApp group.
    7. A hobby box. Keep mehendi cones, a sketchbook, knitting or a colouring book in one box, ready for spare minutes.
    8. Say yes to a "screen-free hour". Give the kids a printable story or a worksheet and take that hour for yourself.
    9. Plan one thing to look forward to. A festival outfit, a movie night, a visit to your mother. Put it on the calendar.
    10. Ask for help without guilt. Share the school run, the shopping list or dinner duty. Moms are not 24×7 staff.
