    Print your comic

Choose full colour for a bright jungle comic, or printer-friendly to save ink. Both come in A4 and US Letter. Print at 100% (“Actual size”), landscape, on one side of the paper.

    Full colour

The full-colour Dino Crew comic sheet as it prints, with eight pages and a dashed cut line

Bright, full pictures, so it uses more ink. Looks great on slightly thicker paper.

    Printer-friendly (light ink)

The printer-friendly Dino Crew comic sheet with a white background and lighter pictures

White background and lighter pictures. Great for black-and-white printers too.

    Fold guide (1 page)

A one-page picture guide with the six folding steps, to keep next to you while you fold. It works for every one-sheet mini-book on Parent Oven.

How to fold a one-sheet mini-book (50 seconds, soft music). Shown with our Goodnight, Mira book: the Dino Crew comic folds exactly the same way.

    Fold it in 3 minutes

    How to fold your comic

    1. Print the sheet at 100% (“Actual size”), landscape, one side only. Lay it flat, pictures up.
    2. Fold in half the long way, top edge to bottom edge. Crease well, then open it again.
    3. Fold in half the short way, then fold each end in to the middle. Open it: you now have 8 boxes.
    4. A grown-up cuts along the dashed line in the middle, across the middle two boxes only.
    5. Fold the long way again, pictures outside. Hold both ends and gently push them together so the middle opens like a plus sign.
    6. Wrap the pages round so the Dino Crew cover is on the front. Press flat. Ready to read!

Tip: 100–120 gsm paper makes a sturdier comic. Keep scissors with grown-ups.

    Meet the Dino Crew

    Four friends, one rumbly cave

Every member of the crew helps in a different way. Ask your child which one they are most like.

Rory the T-Rex, a red dinosaur with a big grin

    Rory the T-Rex

Big, loud and very proud of his roar, but secretly a little scared of the dark. His tiny arms are a running joke.

Stella the Stegosaurus, a purple dinosaur with round glasses

    Stella the Stegosaurus

The planner of the group. She pushes up her glasses and says, “Let’s make a plan. We stay together!”

Ptera the Pteranodon, a blue flying reptile with a yellow beak

    Ptera the Pteranodon

The lookout. She flies ahead to spot the clues, and she is the one who works out the glowing eyes: “They’re just fireflies!”

Tops the Triceratops, a yellow dinosaur with a green frill and three horns

    Tops the Triceratops

Brave and cheeky. Tops is happy to go first and loves to tease Rory, but always shares a leafy snack.

    Fun fact for curious kids

Ptera is a Pteranodon, and a Pteranodon is not actually a dinosaur! It was a flying reptile that lived at the same time as the dinosaurs. Ask your child: can you spot who in the crew is not a dinosaur?

    Questions

    Is it free?

Yes. It is free for home and classroom use, with no sign-up.

    Which age is it for?

It is written for ages 4–8. Younger children love the pictures and the “RUMBLE!” sound words while you read; children who are starting to read can manage the short speech bubbles themselves.

    Is it scary?

Only a tiny bit, in a giggly way. The glowing eyes turn out to be fireflies, and the big rumble is a friendly surprise. It ends with everyone safe and happy.

Can my child colour it in?

Yes. Print the printer-friendly version: it has a white background and lighter pictures, so crayons and pencils show up well.

My printer cuts off the edges. What should I do?

Print at 100% or “Actual size” (not “Fit to page”). Every page has a soft border, so normal printer margins do not cut off any words or pictures.
