What’s on the “made” worksheet

Read and trace “made”, write it alone, circle it among look-alikes such as make, mad, maid, gave and fade, then trace “Look what I made!”.

How to teach “made”

Made follows the a-e pattern, like gave, cake and late. Write mad and then add the e to show how the a changes. Then talk about things your child has made: a drawing, a tower, a sandcastle. Put a “made by…” label on their next creation.

Sentences with “made”

  • I made a card.
  • We made a sandcastle.
  • Mum made pancakes.
  • Look what I made!

Game: Made by me

Each day, your child makes something small: a drawing, a block tower, a play-dough snake. They write or trace a “made by…” label and read it to someone.

“made” is word 21 of 46 on the Dolch second grade list, usually met around ages 7–8 after the first grade words.

Practise next

Try “gave” and “write” next: gave is another a-e past word, and write is something children make.
