Sight Word “eat” Worksheet – Trace, Write and Find
“Eat” is a word children hear at every meal: “time to eat”, “eat your peas”. Reading it makes menus, recipes and snack labels suddenly interesting.
What’s on the “eat” worksheet
Read and trace “eat”, write it alone, circle it among ate, tea, at, seat and beat, then trace “Cows eat grass.”
Prints on A4 or US Letter (choose “Fit to page”).
How to teach “eat”
The letters ea work as a team to make the long e sound, like in tea and sea. Underline ea in a colour and say “the e and a hold hands and the e does the talking”. Then play restaurant: write a menu and let your child read what they want to eat.
Sentences with “eat”
- We eat lunch at noon.
- Cows eat grass.
- Can I eat a pear?
- Birds eat seeds.
Game: Who eats what?
Lay out animal pictures and food pictures. Your child matches them and reads a sentence card each time: “Rabbits eat carrots”, “Cats eat fish”. Mix in a silly one, like “Cows eat pizza”, and see if they catch it.
Practise next
Try “ate” and “good” next: they turn up in the same mealtime sentences.
