What’s on the “do” worksheet

Read and trace “do”, write it alone, circle it among go, od, so, dot and no, then trace “Do you like jam?”

Prints on A4 or US Letter (choose “Fit to page”).

How to teach “do”

Do rhymes with two and too, not with go and no, so warn your child that it is a rule-breaker. Say “do, do, doo” like a train. Then practise questions that start with do and answer them together: “Do you like ice cream?”

Sentences with “do”

  • Do you like jam?
  • What do cows eat?
  • Do not wake the baby.
  • I do my homework.

Game: Do or don’t

Make a pile of silly cards: “Do a jump”, “Do a spin”, “Do not laugh”. Your child reads one and does the action, or tries very hard not to laugh. Then they make up a card for you.

Practise next

Try “to” and “too” next: they sound the same as do at the end, so they are easy to compare.

Questions about “do”

What words go well with do?

Try to and two, which sound the same, and you, which shares the oo sound.
